About

This website tells the story of my great grandfather, a uniquely gifted man who from an early age created stunning works of art that are still relevant today.

Basch Árpád (1873-1944) was a painter and illustrator. Inspired by the Great Poster Movement of the day and having trained in Paris, his style combined classical elements with stylistic motifs characteristic of Art Noveau.

His most famous design Kühne (1899) became part of the Maîtres de l’Affiche series, which consists of 256 small format lithographic prints of the best posters from La Belle Époque.
